Latops with Intel Core...

Laptops with Intel Core Duo processors are debuting this month. Core Solo is coming soon. If you are thinking of buying a laptop soon it might be a good idea to wait for another 2-3 months until all vendors move to the new Core Duo.

Here are some examples of what the new products are like:
* Apple's MacBook Pro
* Sony's SZ Series
* IBM (Lenovo) T60 and X60
* ... and many more

Compared against Intel's own line of laptop processors it fits above the Pentium M 7xx in terms of performance, but does not do mirracles in terms of power consumption as the Pentium M ULV 7x3 processors.
Pentium M Spec sheet: http://www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/quickreffam.htm

Core Duo Spec sheet: http://www.intel.com/products/processor/coreduo/specs.htm

If you want the smallest/lightest laptop go for the Pentium M 753 1.2GHz. If you want the best performance @15W go for the Core Duo L2400 1.66GHz. Best performance @31W - Core Duo T2600 2.16GHz.

The following review compares the Core Duo - a laptop processor by design to the desktop AMDs Athlon 64 X2 and Intel's Pentium M 760.

It's true it is overhyped a bit. But in my mind it is worth waiting a couple of months for the Core Duo based laptops.
